Sunshine Blogger Award

I’m beyond stoked and excited.

In fact, I’m borderline freaking out.

This is my first blogging award and I’m super psyched to have been nominated by Ayesha. Please do check out her wonderful blog at Blogging Filter

She’s such a smart and amazing person, and I’m grateful for the privilege of the WordPress platform.

It’s given me the rare opportunity to connect with so many like-minded people all over the world.

I’m sure you’re wondering what this award is all about, and I’ll get into it.

What is the Sunshine Blogger award?

The award is driven entirely by the WordPress community, passed from blogger to blogger in recognition of their inspiring, creative and motivational blogs. Each nominee passes it on to 11 of their favourite bloggers, and round and round it goes. This is a great way to give recognition to bloggers who may otherwise fly under the radar of many people.

There are a few rules to accepting this nomination and they are as follows:

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and ask them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post and/or on your blog.

So, thank you once again Ayesha, you’re phenomenal.

Here are my answers to Ayesha Siddiqua’s questions:

  • When did you start blogging?

I opened a WordPress account April of 2018, my blog was blank, I had not the fainted clue how to go about the whole thing, so I didn’t actually start blogging actively and consistently until July 2019.

  • What is your blog mostly focused on?

I would say my blog is mostly about personal growth and development.

  • What kind of reactions do you get for your blog posts?

Mostly that my blog is helpful and inspiring.

  • How do you use social media?

I’m not quite sure how to answer this though, whether how I use it with regards to my blog or how it use it personally. Well, I’d say that I use social media for a lot of things; to share myself with others, precious moments and memories, to have fun, as a platform for learning and information too.

  • What is the funniest comment you received on your blog?

Hmmm, I had to think hard and long about this. Most of the comments I’ve received have actually been serious so far, none I’ve found funny yet.

  • How do you decide what to write about?

I listen. I listen to my heart, and I listen to my spirit. I search for inspiration in lots of places, within and without, and I write on anything that inspires me but mostly, I write on three things: Life, Love, and God. Anything else you see on my blog, like this post here falls in Uncategorized.

  • At what intervals do you try to publish your blog posts?

I publish weekly, I try my best to keep up with it, at least a blog post or two every week. The ultimate goal would be to be able to publish blog posts every day. I mean I see bloggers who even publish two to three posts a day. I would love to blog full-time, but that’s not practical for me right now.

  • Do you ever get “writer’s block” and how do you then overcome it?

I do definitely experience this occasionally. Like I may not write anything new for weeks or months. At such times I go back to read old notes in my journal or diary and most times it helps to spark up something new. I’m also an avid reader, I derive inspiration from other writers as well. This helps get me out of my funk, I also try to do something fun and interesting, get me in a better mood. Most of all I remind myself of my “why”. Why I love to write and blog, why I’m doing what I do, knowing that I won’t keep up if I only write based on how I feel or what I feel, so I write because. Even when it seems like I don’t have or know what to write, and just then, holding a pen on a piece of paper, I’m able to just because I push myself and I’m determined to do so.

I will write until not a single word remains in my soul.
And even then, I will write on, because writing isn’t something I do. It’s part of who I am.

  • What – if any – rules do you have for posting comments on your blog?

I actually don’t have any rules for commenting, as long as it’s civil and respectful, I’m good to go. Thankfully, my readers have been kind so far.

  • Who would you most like to interview for a blog post and why?

I would love to interview Cristian Mihai. He’s a Romanian blogger and by far my favourite. He’s also my blogging mentor from a distance. He’s inspired me in ways I can’t even count, encouraging me to keep going. Blogging isn’t easy, by far its not and his words always seem like adrenaline shot up in my soul. Every time I read his posts, I’m recharged and ready to write again. I would love to know how his mind works, and how he just does it. It’s really amazing to watch.

  • Who do you want to reach with your blog?

Would I sound greedy if I say, everyone? The whole world?
I started blogging primarily because I would love to reach and access whole new demography outside of my locality, to write words that touch the hearts and souls of people on a different continent from mine. So far I’ve been able to connect with people, not just writers from different countries I would have never had access to and it’s truly amazing.

Now for my own nominees:

I choose these people because they’re amazing writers I’ve connected with on WordPress and I’m glad about it. Without further ado,

  1. Ebonyandcrows
  2. Kim Petitt
  3. Metamorphickesha
  4. Mimi Jones
  5. Adeola
  6. Gere Ochuko
  7. Chocoviv
  8. Ezee shad
  9. D65
  10. Joel Abakah
  11. Kiana Donae

My Questions:

To which I do hope that if you choose to accept this nomination, you would be as open as possible and honest with your answers, the goal is for your readers to get a little peek into your soul.

  1. Why do you write or blog?
  2. What or who inspires you the most?
  3. What else are you passionate about apart from blogging?
  4. If you could be only one thing in this world, who would you rather be?
  5. What do you do for fun?
  6. What makes you tick?
  7. What are your favourite likes and dislikes?
  8. What is an ideal day for you?
  9. If the Coronavirus were to mean the apocalypse of the world, what would you be doing right now?
  10. What do life and love mean to you in three short sentences each
  11. If money wasn’t an object, what would you buy?

Congrats!. Stay happy, and keep blogging.

  1. Dara, congratulations on this well deserved award! And wow, I am so flattered you nominated me, thank you so much. I agree about how amazing it is to be able to connect with people all over the world through platforms like ours. It has certainly made this world seem so much smaller.
